Description
This wallpaper mural of Claude Monet’s exquisite “Charing Cross Bridge” uses soft yellows and blues to depict a view of sunset over London’s famous waterway. From September 1899, Claude Monet dedicated himself to painting nearly one hundred scenes of the Thames River. His artwork focused on three main views: Charing Cross Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, both observed from the Savoy Hotel, and the Houses of Parliament, viewed from Saint Thomas’s Hospital. In the industrial haze of London, Monet sought to depict the interplay of light through the thick, smoky air. The linear form of Charing Cross Bridge, echoing the style of Japanese prints he admired, frames the misty outline of the Houses of Parliament in the background.
