Description
Jitterbug is breaking boundaries by offering this Ancient Egyptian stela as a wallpaper mural for the very first time.
The stela, sculpted in raised and sunken relief, was later painted with black, brown, green, yellow, and white pigment and tempera. It commemorates a man named Amenemhat and his wife Hemet, shown with two tables of food. Their son appears in the upper right corner. Hieroglyphs inscribed throughout include names, lineage, and prayers for food in the afterlife.
Amenemhat and Hemet are placed on the left to indicate their importance, with Amenemhat in front as the head of the household. The difference in their skin color reflects their roles: his dark reddish-brown for outdoor activity, hers yellow for staying at home. Both wear traditional attire and jewelry.
